The Dunes- Opened May 1955, imploded October 1993. This famous Las Vegas landmark featured a 30 foot tall sultan on top of the main entrance. Many thought the ruby in the sultans turban was good luck, superstitious gamblers refused to enter one day when the light in the sultans ruby went out! A tall 24 story hotel tower was added in the early 60's one of the biggest of its day. The tower was the feature on one of the Dunes later chip issues. The chip pictured here is the ultra rare first issue, there are thought to be only 5 known examples.
